Welcome to my blog! I am Roopen Roy – I am afflicted by wanderlust. I am also a gastropilgrim, start-up evangelist, and strategy pathfinder.
After spending more than four decades in the world of management consulting, I now wear many hats — Founder & CEO of Sumantrana Management Consultants, board member, advisor, and storyteller. My professional journey took me through leadership roles as Managing Director of Deloitte Consulting India and earlier at PwC India, where I helped build and grow consulting practices and global delivery centers.
I trained as a Chartered Accountant, earned a Master’s in Advanced Accounting, studied law, and later had the privilege of attending the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. But beyond the degrees and titles, what has shaped me most are the people, challenges, and ideas I’ve encountered along the way.
Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to contribute to institutions I deeply admire — from IIT Kharagpur and IIM Calcutta to Nasscom and AIMA. Today, I continue to serve on several boards, including Amalgamated Plantations (a Tata enterprise), Quadra Diagnostics, and TCG Digital (USA).
This blog is my space to reflect, share insights, and explore ideas that inspire me — whether in business, leadership, or the world beyond work.
