আমি অন্য কোথাও যাব না আমি এই দেশেতেই থাকবো ?
প্রশান্তদা জুম্ কল করলেন -রোববার রাত এগারোটা নাগাদ ! আমি তখন শান্তিনিকেতনে ।
তার আগেই কালবোশেখী ঝড়ে বিদ্যুতের তার ছিঁড়ে গেছে ,
ব্রডব্যান্ড কাপুত ।
কোনোমতে ইমার্জেন্সি লম্ফের বাতিতে ডেটা দিয়ে কথোপকথন সারলাম!
প্রশান্তদার সঙ্গে ছিলেন একজন ভেনেজুয়েলার অধ্যাপক হরখে মিগেল -একবর্ণ বাংলা বোঝেন না কিন্তু উর্দু এবং ইংরেজি জানেন ।
প্রশান্তদা বললেন : পশ্চিম বাংলার নতুন প্রজন্ম তো ফাটিয়ে দিয়েছে “নিজেদের মতে , নিজেদের গান” – দৃপ্ত, সহজাত, নতুন গান -টুম্পা সোনা বা লুঙ্গি ডান্সের মতো চটুল প্যারডি নয় !
আমি বললাম -কোনো পংক্তিটাই তো নতুন দেখলাম না -সব পুরোনো অভিযোগ অনুযোগ সমালোচনার একটা কালাইডোস্কোপ , কারা স্বাধীনতা যুদ্ধে লড়ে নি, কারা গডসের সমর্থক, কারা ফ্যাসিবাদের প্রতিভূ , কারা হিটলারের ছানা , কারা তোজোর কুকুর, কারা আন্দামানে যায় নি কিন্তু প্রথম শ্রেণীর রাজবন্দী ছিল -নতুন কি ?”
” না ! নেতাজি বা আন্দামান নিয়ে তো গানে কিছু নেই !”
“ওটা একটু মজা করে জুড়ে দিলাম, গানে নেই কিন্তু প্রাণে তো আছে সেই পুরোনো ব্যথা ! নেতাজিকে বলা হয়েছিল কুইসলিং, তোজোর কুকুর,
ব্রিটিশের জামাইরা কোনোদিন আন্দামানে যায়নি , ভুলিনি !”
“যাই বলিস মার্কসবাদীদের বস্তা পচা গান আর চটুল
প্যারোডির থেকে ভালো ।”
“দেখো বস ! অদৃশ্য ফ্যাসিবাদ নিয়ে ছায়া যুদ্ধ করো না ! যদি বলতে চাও ভাজপা’কে ভোট দিয়ো না তাহলে বলতে হবে কাকে দেব ! ঝাপসা ঝাপসা প্রতিবাদ হয় না , যেমন কিঞ্চিৎ গর্ভবতী বলে কিছু হয়না , হয় গর্ভবতী , না হলে নয় । নো ভোট টু বিজেপি =লুকিয়ে চুরিয়ে তৃণমূল
কিন্তু লোকসমাজে তা লজ্জায় বলতে পারছি না। কি করে বলবো কাটমানির জন্য বিপ্লব করুন, তোলাবাজির স্বপক্ষে মিছিল করুন , গরুপাচারের জন্য আমরণ অনশন করুন, নাৎসিবাদ রুখতে কেষ্ট মন্ডলের ভজনা করুন , দুর্নীতি উৎপাটিত করতে মদনবাবুকে ভোট দিন ! জাস্ট হয় না, বস , যতই গান বাঁধুন আর যতই উর্দু স্লোগান আর গজল আউড়ান !”
” No No we want a big tent of all anti-fascist forces -যে তাঁবুতে ফ্যাসিবাদী মোদির বিরুদ্ধে সমস্ত শক্তি একত্রিত হবে! আমরা পার্টির ঝান্ডা নিয়ে এই ঐক্যকে বিভক্ত করবো না । “
” ও মশাই -এটা একটা রাজ্যের নির্বাচন হচ্ছে , এই নির্বাচনে তৃণমূল জয়লাভ করলে মোদীজির মসনদ টলবে না । এবার বামপন্থীরা কংগ্রেসের সঙ্গে জোটবদ্ধ হয়ে পশ্চিম বাংলায় নির্বাচন লড়ছেন । কিন্তু ইউ পি এ সরকারের আশ্রয়পুষ্ট আমলা, উপদেষ্টা এবং স্তাবকরা কেউ
জোটের পক্ষে আবেদন করছেন না ! এ কেমন লড়াই, এ কেমন ঐক্য -এতো ব -কলমে তৃণমূলের প্রচার !”
” এইসব বলে আমাদের বদনাম করা যাবে না । আমরা সামনা সামনি বাম কংগ্রেস সংযুক্ত মোর্চাকে সমর্থন করতে পারি না , তাহলে আমাদের শিবিরে ফাটল ধরবে !”
“কিসের শিবির দাদা ? নন্দীগ্রামে তো মমতা ব্যানার্জী আর মীনাক্ষী মুখাৰ্জীকে একসঙ্গে ভোট দেয়া যাবে না -কাকে দেব বলুন , বালিগঞ্জ কেন্দ্রে ফুয়াদ হালিমকে দেব না সুব্রত মুখার্জিকে দেব, কামারহাটিতে কাকে ভোট দেব মদনদা না জোট প্রার্থীকে ?”
” এসব প্রশ্নের উত্তর আমরা বুদ্ধিজীবীরা দেব না, দেবে পশ্চিম বাংলার মানুষ !”
“মিগেল তো বলছে ” হাম দেখেঙ্গে ” গেয়ে ফাটিয়ে দিয়েছে !
Jorge Miguel joined the call at this time.
He asserted : “I believe you have a problem with the Islamic imagery of the song Hum Dekhenge. But you must understand that Faiz Ahmed Faiz was a communist. He received the Lenin Prize from the Soviet Union. He was not a communal poet. He used Islamic imagery so that it resonates with the common people of Pakistan who are God fearing and devout in their prayers. To rouse them against the tyranny of Zia, Faiz invoked the imagery of Prophet Mohammed destroying the idols and establishing the Kingdom of Allah.”
I told Miguel : “Unfortunately I come from a land where worshipping the idol of Durga is our biggest festival.Like your Christmas. And the name Kalapahar sends shivers down our spines. This imagery of destruction of idols does not translate well in our culture.Do you understand that?”
Miguel said :”Perhaps you are putting too much emphasis in the imagery, focus on the revolution”.
I replied ,” I was trying to figure out how Faiz Ahmed Faiz’s use of Islamic imagery in Hum Dekhenge would sound if it was replaced by identical Hindu imagery. Faiz’s description of the idols being lifted from the Kabah echoes the coming of the Prophet Muhammad and Islam, where the Prophet is said to have personally destroyed all the idols in the Kabah, returning it to the worship of the monotheism of Abraham and the Prophets before him.” Source: Wiki. ‘But’ is idol in Arabic.

The English translation :
When from khuda’s sacred square of kaaba
The false idols of infidels will be uprooted
When we the -faithfuls who have been banished
From this holy site
Will be installed in the thrones of power
The crowns will be toppled
The thrones will bite the dust
Only the name of Allah will remain
Miguel said : ” Here Allah means any God not just Allah.”
I said: ” What would it sound like if you took the Islamic imagery of destruction of idols and the supremacy of Allah and replaced it with a Hindutva equivalent. It would sound vile and divisive. Just listen patiently.

আমি বললাম : প্রশান্তদা, অনির্বান একটা মোক্ষম লাইন লিখেছে : ” আমি অন্য কোথাও যাব না আমি এই দেশেতেই থাকবো ।” তুমি তো পালিয়েছে নেব্রাস্কা ! একজন আমেরিকান নাগরিক এবং অনুপস্থিত বুদ্ধিজীবী হিসেবে এই নির্বাচনে তোমার কোনো লগ্নী , স্টেক বা ঝুঁকি নেই-you have no skin in the game ! তুমি তাদের দলে যারা গেয়েছে : আমি অন্য কোথাও চলে যাবো আমি এই দেশেতে থাকবো না -তাই না ? তোমরা তো দূর থেকে বলছো -দ্যাখ আমি কি হনু আমার কত বড় ল্যাজ
আর দূর থেকে সেই ল্যাজ নাড়ছো ! যদি জোটকে সমর্থন না করো তাহলে নিজেকে আর যাই বলো বামপন্থী বোলো না , চে গেভারার টি শার্টটা ডোর ড্যাশের ছেলেটাকে দিয়ে দাও !
